Physician Assistant Programs in Illinois


A Physician Assistant in Illinois is someone who is not a physician nor a person holding an M.D. or a similar degree. However, a Physician Assistant is someone who has been certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants or a similar agency. The Physician Assistant performs procedures under the supervision of a physician as defined in the Physician’s Assistant Practice Act. This position is in the field of health care, the ability to work with others and patients is crucial.

Some of the requirements someone needs in order to become a Pysical Assistant is education you must graduate from an approved program which will be listed later and be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. You must also take and perform a written and hands on examination. You must also obtain a license.

- Graduation from approved program from the National Commission on Certifcation of Physical Assistants (NCCPA) that applicant has substantially equivalent training and experience

- Passing a hands on and written exam from the NCCPA

- Certification and licensing from the NCCPA
